Pitra Dosh or Pitru Dosh, according to Vedic astrology, is a birth defect or flaw that occurs later in life and is demoralising for some people.

Most cases where Pitra Dosh occurs are caused by the movement of the planets and for the reasons mentioned below:

1 Bad deeds of our ancestors/children in previous lives, knowingly or unknowingly.

2 Absence of the full thread of our ancestors' parental wishes

3 Sudden and unnatural death of related ancestors at a young age, Pitra Dosha occurs when ancestors up to the 7th generation on the paternal side and up to the 4th generation on the maternal side died early or had an unnatural death.

It is said that in the month of Pitripaksh, the Lord of Death grants all souls the freedom to visit their own people and accept the offerings of their children, so many people offer Sharadh to their ancestors.

The Effects of Pitra Dosh are listed below:

1. No male child is born in the family to continue the generation or no child is born in the family.

2. There may be frequent abortions.

3. There may be children in the family who do not want to marry, or a suitable partner for marriage could not be found despite many efforts.

4. Lack of interest in business/education/profession among family members, although they are qualified for it.

5. Children in these families can be born with physical or mental impairments, but also children who are born normal.

6 Health and hygiene problems at home and among family members.

7. There is always scarcity in these families and they hardly find happiness or prosperity in anything they try to do.

8. The native dealing with Pitra dosh has to deal with various problems related to offspring. In addition, their children are likely to be affected by physical or mental illnesses.

9. People suffering from this dosh tend to have many problems related to their marriage. Regardless of all their efforts, they are unable to get married at the right time due to Pitra Dosh.

10. Often, the household is surrounded by diseases, due to which the family has to deal with many physical, emotional and financial problems.

11. Pitra Dosh creates an unfavourable environment in the household. The husband and wife may have disagreements and problems over insignificant matters.

12. Locals often remain in debt on a regular basis and are unable to pay off the debt despite their best efforts. Due to the ill effects of Pitra Dosh itself, the Native's family lags behind in financial growth. They are always surrounded by poverty and inadequacy.

13. When a family suffers from Pitra Dosh, it is likely that a member of the family sees a snake or an ancestor in his dreams demanding food or clothing.

14. The Native could lose his reputation in society, or the bad effects of Pitra Dosh could even go so far as to cause the Native to serve a long prison sentence.

15. Elevated Pitra Dosh in the Native's kundli could involve unnatural death such as suicide/accident/murder and/or continuous loss of life mysteriously.

Planetary Positions Responsible for Pithru Dosham

A native's horoscope reflects Pitra Dosha through certain planetary positions that form different types of Pitra Dosh or Pithru Dosham.

Planets/Houses signifying Pitra Dosh SUN - represents father/father figures and ancestors MOON - represents mother and spirit SATURN - represents debts, sin and difficulties in life 9. HOUSE - represents past life, ancestors and 2nd life. HOUSE - represents family, heritage and bloodline Planetary combinations responsible for Pitra Dosh A kundli is considered to be affected by Pitra Dosh if in the chart the 9th house or its lord is either conjunct or aspected by Rahu or Ketu. When Sun and/or Jupiter in the kundli are in conjunction with or in expectation of Rahu or Ketu, it has the effect of Pitra Dosh to some extent. Sun and Rahu or Sun and Saturn in the first, second, fourth, seventh, ninth and tenth houses of the natal chart. Rahu is in the ascendant and the lord of the ascendant is in the sixth, eighth or twelfth house, then Pitra Dosha is also formed in the horoscope. If the lord of the sixth, eighth or twelfth house forms an aspect or conjunction with the planets forming Pitra Dosha, the Native may suffer from serious accidents, injuries, visual disturbances and basically complications in life.
