What to do when performing Pitru Dosh Pooja


Pitru Dosh Nivaran Puja is a very auspicious and meritorious puja. Here the word Pitru or Pitra denotes the father and his ancestry. Pitra Dosh or Pithru Dosha denotes the bad karma or wrongdoing created by their ancestors of the paternal side while living in the past. This puja ritual purifies all the wrongdoing and helps them rest in peace with their souls freed. The Shradh puja or Pitru Dosh Nivaran Puja should be performed amid Pitru Paksha period amid the Krishna Paksha fortnight in the month of Ashwin.


One must do the Shraddha to receive the blessings of the ancestors on the day of the ancestor's death


Offer water to Pitras on the day of death or Shraddha


Offer blankets, food and clothes to poor and needy people, especially on Amavasya or Purnima after the Shraddha process.


Remember the ancestors by mentioning their names in the Shradha Pooja; receive their blessings.



Pitru Dosha Nivarana Mantra


"Om Shreem Sarva Pitra Dosha Nivaranay Klesham Han Sukh Shantim Dehi Phat Swaha" is the mantra.


"Om Pitrabhya devatabhya mahayogibhyech cha , Namah swaha swadhyaya cha Nityamev namah" .



Samagri for Pitru Dosh Pooja


The samagri used for Pitru Dosh Puja vidhi are listed below


Frankincense, Paan leaves, Areca nuts, Hawan Samagri, Desi Ghee, Sweet stuff, Gangaajal, Fire pit, Mango leaves, Yellow rice, Roli, Camphor, Honey, Sugar, Turmeric, Pink cloth, Janet.



Procedure for Pitru Dosh Pooja:


Make the Pind-Daan.


A person must come one day before or early in the morning by 6 of the clock on the day of the muhurta.


Once a pooja begins, a person cannot leave the place where the pooja took place until the pooja vidhi is finished. On the last day, they are free until noon.


make an oath to satisfy all known and unknown Pitras with a lit lamp with pure ghee.


Recite 16 mala of this mantra every day, or recite four mala for four days.


One can also recite one mala of this mantra for 16 shraadh.


A person has to bring only new clothes like a white dhoti, gamcha, napkin for the man and other than black-green and plain white colors, saree, blouse, etc.


You should eat food without onions and garlic on these pooja days.


After eating, give some food to Brahmins or cows.


You can also give food to poor and needy people


A person must not eat non-vegetables and alcohol for the next 41 days, including Pooja day.


Who should perform Pitra Dosh Puja and why?


According to the ancient text, Pitra Dosh occurs when one of the ancestors up to the fourth generation on the mother's side had an early death.


This Dosh also occurs when the 7th generation paternal had an unnatural death or died at a very early age.


It is also very important to respect the parental wishes of the ancestors and do some good deeds.


If one does not do this, the souls of the ancestors never rest in peace and become Pitra Dosh.


If a person does not perform pooja for his ancestors, he may suffer from the curse of "Pitra Dosh".

When should I perform this pooja?


Amavasya and Ashtami are generally the best days to perform the Pitru Dosh Niwaran.


Some people also perform this pooja on Pitru Paksha.


Also, this pooja should be done on the last day of Pitra Paksha


Depending on the kundli of the person and after consultation with the expert, this pooja should take place.
